ARTS PROGRAMS

September High School's extensive Arts Program is an important complement to the academic curriculum. We not only want to enhance our students' academic abilities, but also spark their creativity. So, we offer an extensive arts program, which includes courses in theater, music, band performance, music history, photography, painting, stained glass, ceramics, drawing and mixed media.

Through the arts students explore their creativity, build confidence and find their own unique voice to express their complex inner worlds. Students share their creative work in art shows and collaborative music, dance and theater performance.

Winter and Spring Follies occur at the end of each semester, when theater, music and art classes perform for an appreciative audience of family and friends. Typically about half of our students are doing some kind of performance and another half is exhibiting their art. It takes tremendous courage to put themselves out this way in front of the community, and our students always rise to the occasion.

Follies is about the process, not about perfection. Our students are encouraged to express themselves through Follies in front of their community. Being on stage is a rewarding challenge, and the end product is a delight to anyone watching.

Anyone is welcome to check out the Follies performances. Locations and dates will be posted on the web site calendar and in school newsletters. Click here to see a catalogue with recent class offerings.
