The longest-running independent high school in Boulder moved to a new campus last week at 96 Arapahoe Avenue, at the base of Boulder Canyon. September School left its previous home on Walnut Street, where it had been a community landmark for more than four decades.
"This move is an enormous step forward for the school, renewing our commitment to students, faculty, parents, alumni and the Boulder community," September School Board President Ron Dreasher comments. "We are grateful for the outpouring of support we've received."
After the Boulder City Council approved annexation of the new property in July 2017, September School started renovation work on existing buildings and sketched out a long-term vision for the campus. The 1.37-acre property is being specially designed to support the school's unique relationship-based learning philosophy and growing enrollment numbers.
- Learning spaces are tailor-made for an 8-to-1 student-teacher ratio.
- The school plans to build an expansive art studio, music room and organic garden.
- The campus will serve as home base for community outreach and social entrepreneurship programs.
"Our mission is to reawaken the love of learning in our students," says Kelly Molinet, Executive Director of September High School. "With our new campus, students and faculty alike are inspired to re-engage and revitalize our unique and supportive community."
September School is kicking off a capital campaign on February 1, 2018 to help fund elements of the new campus. The school welcomes opportunities to partner with organizations and individuals on innovation in education, including academics and the arts, technology, sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
