Social, Emotional, and Academic Growth
The heart of our educational program is relationship-based learning. We believe that teens learn most effectively when they build meaningful connections with their teachers and with each other. Through these connections, students feel empowered to be critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens.
We also believe in the power of a small, supportive community. September School’s low student-faculty ratio (8:1) allows our experienced and highly qualified educators to see each student as a unique individual and to offer personalized attention that supports them in their educational journey.
The teenage years can be a beautiful, tumultuous, and confusing time of life. When students feel grounded, noticed, and supported, they are more willing to challenge themselves in all facets of their education. At September School, we value the whole person and emphasize building the social and emotional skills teens will need as they grow into adulthood. These include self-advocacy, conflict resolution, stress-management, and empathy.
In return, we invite students to fully engage in their education, to make connections between what they’re learning, what they’re doing, and the kind of life they want to lead. We don’t teach students what to think, what to question, or what to explore — but how to think, how to question, and how to explore. September School graduates leave our classrooms with a greater understanding of who they are, where their interests lie, and the value they bring to the world.
